Consultation
We start by consulting with you to determine your needs and desires. Your general vision of the end result, your tastes and preferences, the status of your existing site (if any), the current format of your content - these are all factors we use to determine the scope and shape of your project. Before your first consultation, please look around on the internet and gather examples of websites you like and dislike, and why. This will be very helpful in the design process.
Project Requirements
In order to provide an accurate estimate, we will draw up a set of Project Requirements that will provide a complete picture of what is involved with your project. As a basis for website projects, we'll ask you to submit a Website Outline listing the pages of your site, any sub-pages and a brief description of what will go on each page in terms of content, images, links or other special features such as Flash animation. For other types of projects, we will draw up your Project Requirements from meeting notes.
Project Estimate
Your project estimate will be based directly upon your Requirements so it's important to include every possible scenario when discussing your project or submitting your Website Outline. Once your requirements and estimate are finalized, a 30% deposit will be due before development commences.
Development
Once we have received your deposit, development will begin immediately. If you are having a site designed from scratch, this will include the prototyping process, which is where we come up with the initial design concept using your color and style preferences. Once you approve of the design concept, the site construction will include piecing together the pages, inserting and formatting the content that you provide along with any images, links, flash animation or other special features.
Progress Updates/Feedback
Your feedback is crucial to the development process. We will send you prototypes, revisions and updates via email throughout the length of the project and only based on your feedback will the project progress. The length of your project will depend on a combination of three things: 1) the general size of the project, 2) your timely response to our request for feedback, and 3) our workload with other projects. Upon request, we can provide an estimated date of completion.
Completion - Websites
Upon your final feedback and approval, your website will launch. If you notice any minor corrections such as a misspelling, please submit to us in email and we will make the corrections immediately. Otherwise, modifications to a website after launch will be considered further development and will be estimated separately.
Completion - Printed Materials
Upon your final feedback and approval, your files will be submitted to the printer. It is imperative that you have at least two outside parties proof your materials before you approve them for print. Because the copy on your printed materials is taken directly from what you send us, it is especially important to check the accuracy of phone numbers, email addresses, the spelling of names - these are things that only you will know are incorrect. Once files have been submitted, materials will be sent directly to you and corrections cannot be made.
Maintenance
Many of our clients want the ability to maintain their own page content. By empowering you to control your own project once it has left our hands, we eliminate maintenance fees and "developer dependency."
If you are not in a position to manage your own site, we are happy to provide ongoing maintenance which will be handled on a contractual basis. This will be discussed and agreed upon by both parties during initial consultation.
Either way, we are here if you need us, just give a ring and our response will be immediate.
Payment
- A 30% deposit is due on any project before work can begin.
- For lengthier projects, you will be billed monthly for work completed, due by the 15th of the following month.
- Any remaining balance will be due before your site is launched or before printed materials such as business cards go to print.
- Payments are accepted via check by mail or via credit card through the Payment button on your Estimate or Invoice.
- Payments not received by the due date will be subject to a cumulative monthly late fee of 10%, which will be detailed on your Invoice or Statement.
